Catching Up With....Actress and Supermodel Mia Tyler

Mia_Tyler_4 WM As an actress and supermodel, Mia Tyler defies the norms. Mia is a plus-sized model, who (gasp!) embraces and loves her curves. Mia recently spoke with Celebrity Parents about being the spokesperson for FullFast and CelluScience, healthy living, and why real women have curves.

Celluscience How did you get involved in CelluScience?
I met with the company over a year ago. I’m not a big dieter; I think it’s more about healthy living. I’m always looking for something to help me out, but I didn’t want to lose tons of weight, either. I saw a picture of myself when I was in my 20’s, and I know that I’m not going to get back to that weight.

I’m a plus-sized model. I promote curves and a healthy body. I wanted to make sure that I was promoting something that was healthy for women and would be a positive lifestyle change. I didn’t want anything that was going to be too speedy!

Yeah, and have you scrubbing the walls at 3:00 AM.
[laughs] Exactly. I’m coming into this as a regular person. I travel a lot, so I tend to eat junk food. As a vegetarian, it’s easy for me to pick up a bag of chips. Instead of reaching for junk, I’ll spray the FullFast spray under my tongue, and it works as an appetite suppressant. It has a nice lemon/lime taste. And it works for my lifestyle.

FullFast I think that’s important to stress. Weight loss is not about dieting; it’s about lifestyle changes.
That’s true. With the FullFast spray, I can keep it in my purse, and I don’t have to follow a strict regimen. I also didn’t want to take anything that had weird ingredients. The CelluScience products have lots of vitamins in them, so they’re healthy. They’re not a diet pill; they’re a supplement. They also give you great energy, since they’re all natural ingredients.

What was your own personal impetus for becoming a spokesperson for FullFast and CelluScience?
I’m 31 years-old, and I decided to become healthier. I would like to have a family someday, and I have to start watching what I’m putting into my body now. I would love to raise my kids in the future and have them not eat so much processed foods.

What has been your success so far?

I’ve lost almost ten pounds, but for me, it’s not about the numbers. This is a lifestyle change, and I’ve added this to my life. I’m normally a size 14, and I would like to be a 12 again. I’ve lost weight, because I can definitely feel it in my clothes. The results are going to be different for everyone, but I definitely feel better. And I know feeling good comes from the inside, not the outside. That’s what I try to teach girls.

Mia_Tyler_2 WM And your clothing line, Revolution 1228, definitely reflects that as well.
As a plus-size model, I do not represent all plus-sized women. If they can relate to me, that’s great. I am promoting feeling good in your body and celebrating your curves. The clothing line has done really well. It runs from sizes which 14-28 and we literally make everything from scratch. From designs to actually picking out the fabrics, we do it all.  It takes a lot of time and I don’t want to send it out to be manufactured.

Your price point is amazing.
Everything is under 20 bucks. We know how much it costs to make something. In this economy, everyone needs a break, and by pricing it affordably, I feel we’re helping people. As long as I’m helping people, I’m helping myself, too. Between the products and the clothing line, everything is flowing in my life. I’ve created this plus-sized world and I’m very happy in it.
