Mally Roncal's Recipe for the Filipino Dish Sinigang
Celebrity makeup artist Mally Roncal loves to cook healthy for her family. She honors her Filipino roots by preparing the traditional dish sinigang, a popular soup/stew. "This has been one of our family's favorites for decades!," says Mally. "Often times, Filipino foods are delicious, but not always the most health conscious. This dish is always a crowd please, and it's healthy, which we love!"
1 medium-sized onion, chopped
1 large tomato, chopped
4 pork chops, cut in halves
1 cup rice
Place all the ingredients in a medium sized pot. Cook on low heat until meat is half cooked. Add a squeeze of lemon and salt to your taste. Continue at low heat until meat is fully cooked. Add green beans and continue to cook. When beans change color (half cooked), add okra (frozen or fresh) and spinach. When the spinach is wilted, taste again and add more salt and lemon to adjust the taste. Cool, then enjoy!
