New Study Finds Sleep Training Safe for Babies

Even though allowing your little one to cry it out might cause you to have more tears than your baby, you’re actually not causing her any harm. That’s the finding from a new study in Pediatrics, which found that babies 6 months or older who were allowed to cry for longer lengths of time didn’t have a higher level of cortisol, a stress hormone, in their saliva than babies who hadn’t sleep-trained.

Of course, every baby (and parent) is different, and what works for one may not work for another. So speak with your pediatrician about sleep-training methods that work for the entire family.
